Hi Laurie, you may not remember me. We worked a few summers for the Board of Rec. The way you so accurately and vividly captured the essence of Totowa during our time is without a doubt, incredible. I recognize so many faces, names, and places. Hi to everyone, and All the best to you. I look forward to seeing more of your brilliant work... Dave Felix

Wow, My brother Jim called me at home and said you got to see this site! I can't believe how many people I remembered and how many I've forgotten. Despite the fact I grew up in Echo Glen, I still knew all the downtowners. Our neighborhood featured such luminaries as the Fitzgeralds, Suttons, Clemis, Deleo, Radigans, Muirs, Sullivans and Scullys. And me Dave Matthews

This was great, it brought back alot of memories. My name is Glenda and I practically grew up at COZY's. My GrandParents first started Cozy's Larry & Nora Belbol and my Father Joe Belbol. I remember when I was younger hanging out the guys teaching me how to play the pinball machine. Those were some great times! Thanks for putting this site together, the pictures bring back alot of memories especially the picture of my GrandParents. And the one of my Grandmother behind the counter at COZY's. No matter who you talk to and mention the town of Totowa everyone knows about COZY's. Thanks Laurie

I'm from Wood-Ridge in Bergen County. My friends and I have traveled down Riverview Drive on several occaisions. Last night we took a late hour tour of the adjacent cemetery. We are addicted to your home town. One summer day we walked from Wood-Ridge to Totowa, only to sit under the Route 80 overpass and glance over our sacred copies of Weird NJ. Laurel Grove is beautiful and a wonderful place to just pass the time. I'm sure its 85,000 plus residents would agree!

Although I moved to Pennsylvania in 1963 when I was 12 years old, your pics and stories have brought back many memories.... playing double dutch in the driveway while the boys played baseball in the street...roller skating and sledding down the hill on the main street; waiting for the ice cream truck on a hot summer night; drinking fountain sodas at Cozy Corner. My family lived on Highview Avenue. I truly miss Totowa.

Any web site with one picture of Monty and two of Paul Deleo is 'can't-miss' stuff on my agenda. But then again, rockin' on our back porch, eatin' oppossum and watching our still drip fresh moonshine into jugs is months of fun here in Hillbilly-ville.

I'll tell you this - the back of Sam Cherba's head looks mighty familiar. Oh, and one request - on behalf of all former and present Murph's Gang - lose the picture of Muskie .... hahahahahaha.

----- Bravo to Laurie for all her hard effort and great work in taking, saving and compiling so much into a terrific site. -----

David H. Cusick

PS - the wife wants to know if Larry Belbol's pants could actually go any higher??? .... hahahahahaha

Laurie -- Thanks so much for the memories. The pics are priceless. Moved to AZ when I was 13 -- Patti Frei is my maiden name. Would have graduated from P.V. in 1977. Totowa will always have a special place in my heart. I lived on Dewey Ave right behind the cemetary. Loved the memories -- keep up the good work! Had I stayed in Totowa I'm sure we would have met on Riverside Drive!

Hey-cool site! My Grandparents lived in, and parents grew up in Totowa,
and I have spent many happy days there as a kid. My aunt brought
me up to the cemetary to see Sal's famous headstone and the Elk,
which I promptly climbed up on. It was neat to see all the
pics of the area. Good stuff.

The Totowa Book of the Dead is an OUTstanding piece of work. I am a researcher in a business geographic company, looking for information about Totowa and the rest of the County and I grew up in about the same time. There is an universality to your prose and your pictures that stopped me "dead" in my tracks (sorry, no pun intended).

OUTstanding piece of work.

I'm anxiously awaiting the technology that will allow you to send me a pina colada for breakfast. This is cool, though, while I wait in sobriety. Congratulations. Especially love O.J. Do I recognize that as your Brooklyn living room?

Hey Laur - good for you - The website certainly demonstrates the painstaking attention to detail shown to it during your week of deaths and disasters. Congrats. P.S. I especially enjoy the midnight orchid color scheme chosen for your display.
